1. HUMOR U TIP #197 – Not Another Meeting?!

By Ann Fry

Do you have meetings every week, maybe even every day? Do you dreeeaaad going to them… because they’re boring, unstimulating, same old, same old?

Well, let’s STOP That NOW.

I’m going to encourage you to never, ever, have a monotonous, boring meeting again. Remember, we’re about creating a FUN, fulfilling workplace culture where people LOVE going to work.

So… here are some thoughts for fun meetings:

  1. Have  a different person plan the meeting and run the “opening activity” each time.
  2. Opening activities or ice breakers need to be fun… e.g. a chance to learn something new about other people or have an adventure together… plan one.
  3. Have a theme for the meeting—maybe your best black and white shirt OR bring a favorite toy from home.
  4. Encourage folks to talk in funny dialects while sharing at the meeting.
  5. Make sure everyone gets ice cream at the end.

Do you get my drift? Make meetings new and different each time and make sure you bring in an element of surprise and unpredictability.

If you haven’t already, go to www.humoru.com and download Fun At Work: 139 Ways to Lighten UP the Workplace… for more fun ideas.

Truth: People just want to work for GREAT companies and GREAT managers. They want workplace "CULTURES THAT WORK". Can you say... HAPPY AND PROFITABLE?

2. MAKE SOMEONE HAPPY AT WORK OPPORTUNITY

Spring is here, so it’s time to leave a plant or pretty flowers for your cube mates or someone else at work. Or, if they’re into food, leave some great barbecue—another sign of spring. As always, make it anonymous.

3. MOVIE RECOMMENDATIONS

Not too many funny movies out now, but a couple of noteworthy ones:

  • Definitely, Maybe: A story about a young dad and his daughter, as he explains to her how he met her mother. It’s funny, endearing and just an all-around “feel-good” movie.
  • Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day: One of my favorite actresses, Frances McDormand, stars in this time-piece movie. It’s a reminder of the 40’s genre. Miss Pettigrew is a nanny who keeps losing her job who then finds appreciation and romance on a new “gig” for an adult—not a child. Delightful!

4. FREE COACHING OFFER

It’s going so well—who will be the first three people who contact me this month for a FREE half-hour of coaching around how to make their workplace culture more fun and satisfying?

The folks calling are getting value and you can too—don’t miss out. It’s YOUR turn now.

So email me at ann@humoru.com and ask for the session.
