1. HUMOR U TIP #194 – Show How You Really Love Your Job–Be Cheerful

By Ann Fry

I was recently riding the Amtrak between Boston and New York, relaxing, working a bit. The conductor came through collecting tickets. He was as cheerful as he could be, conversing easily, laughing, making fun comments. He was helpful too… helping people get seated, put their luggage up, etc. It was so refreshing. I started wondering why more folks don’t express cheerfulness at work.

Sure, there are bad days, and yucky jobs… but I live by the principle that “what you think about expands.” If you think of how bad it is, it is; if you think of how great it is, it is. I know, sounds a little like New Age psychology, but there’s truth to it.

How are you showing others around you that you enjoy your work? Or, how could you start being more cheerful and showing others around you that it’s really pretty good? Could they benefit from you being cheerful? Could you be a catalyst for making others happier at work?

Think about it. It always starts with YOU.
Happy being cheerful!

Truth: People just want to work for GREAT companies and GREAT managers. They want workplace "CULTURES THAT WORK". Can you say... HAPPY AND PROFITABLE?

4. MOVIE RECOMMENDATIONS

Martian Child: I haven’t had much time for movies this month, but did sneak this one in. It’s cute and yet touching. It’s not Academy-Award worthy; however, the kid is amazing and John Cusack does a good job as well. He’s a widower who decides to adopt a child who believes he’s from Mars. Very well done and worthy of your time.

5. FREE COACHING OFFER

It's going so well that I want to continue! The first three people who contact me this month can have a FREE half-hour of coaching about how to make their workplace culture more fun and satisfying.
