1. HUMOR U TIP #188 – Do You Have Your Brand?

By Ann Fry

I get all these newsletters and solicitations to help me find my “brand” or to “get branded.” It’s funny. It seems no matter how many ways I refer to myself and my work, someone still thinks I need a better brand or another brand.

It’s like… isn’t “Humor University … FUN solutions for serious problems” enough?

I started thinking about some brands for me:

  • The one who creates fun, but isn’t funny.
  • The crazy woman trying to make people play at work.
  • The person to call to “lighten up” your workplace.
  • The idealistic person who thinks the world needs more fun even though many people think it doesn’t.

Yada, yada, yada. You get the point.

Here are the ones I like the best about my work:

  • The person to call to help you color outside the lines!
  • The person you want to help you get enthusiastic and excited about work.
  • The woman who never gives up for what she believes in.

So, what’s your brand? What statements enhance who you are for people and describes you at your best?

Whether your brand is “in print” doesn’t really matter—you just want to be known as that person who stands for that statement. And, you want people to refer to you in that way, so others remember you.

Happy Branding!

Truth: People just want to work for GREAT companies and GREAT managers. They want workplace "CULTURES THAT WORK". Can you say... HAPPY AND PROFITABLE?

2. MAKE SOMEONE HAPPY AT WORK OPPORTUNITY

Spring has flung—I say drop off a nice vase of flowers on the desk of someone you really admire at work. Watch them smile! (You might have a little chocolate bunny with it! )

3. MOVIE RECOMMENDATIONS

Most movies these days are pretty serious, but there are few that make you laugh—even while making you cry.

  • The Pursuit of Happyness: Will Smith plays a man who never gives up pursuing what he wants. Very inspiring.
  • The Namesake: An intercultural experience—a couple from India live in the US their entire married life, while keeping their culture alive—you’ll laugh and cry in this one.

4. FREE COACHING OFFER

It's going so well that I want to continue! The first five people who contact me can have a FREE half-hour of coaching around how to make their workplace culture more fun and satisfying.

The folks calling me are getting value and you can too—don't miss out!

So, email me: ann@humor.com and ask for the session.
