1. HUMOR U TIP #187 – Winter and Travel Blues

By Ann Fry

Doesn’t that sound like a great name for a country-Western song?

"I got those Winter/Travel Blues; and my hound dog isn’t howling or running cause she’s too cold too.”

Actually, living in a city that grapples with cold Winters makes me realize how much weather can impact how people feel when they get to work.

And, being someone who flies a lot, I can also see how that makes people ornery (well, not me, but other people.)

So, what to do? How do you keep your sense of humor intact?

Here are some ideas:

  • Buy colorful, fun winter galoshes—it brings a smile to all who see you. Mine are blue, green and pink swirls.
  • Get a colorful hot mug to carry your coffee in and make sure it has a secure lid.
  • Wear a hat that has ears—looks funny.
  • Take a snuggle toy on the plane to cuddle with—you can lean your head against it AND your neighbor WON’T want to talk to you. You’ll be able to rest.
  • Take music and games, in case you get stuck in the airport or on the tarmac for long periods. Heck, take crayons and a coloring book too.
  • Take a funny book or a book of jokes or amusing stories—you’ll need to laugh.
  • Most important—enjoy the scenery—the “people watching” is awesome.

Moral: Find ways to tap into fun and your sense of humor to get you through all the tough times.

Good luck!

Truth: People just want to work for GREAT companies and GREAT managers. They want workplace "CULTURES THAT WORK". Can you say... HAPPY AND PROFITABLE?
