1. HUMOR U TIP #175 – Don't Hide Under Your Desk

By Ann Fry

Sometimes people get really stressed out at work … and then they just want to go and hide someplace where others can’t see them. Well, I say, “no, don’t do that.” Instead of hiding, get out of yourself and be public. And, most importantly, talk to everyone and stay active. And, take extreme good care of yourself.

Tall order? You bet. When stressed, have fun. Walk around the office building, wearing bright colored sneakers and fun laces. Tell jokes. Invite others along. Have an “I can top your story” contest—everyone who wants to participate, lines up, gets 60 seconds to tell their worst stress scenario for that day. Invite your supervisor to judge and then have a “Top Stress Story” award—maybe a gift certificate for a massage or something.

Moral—be proactive, not reactive. Take your stress and make it fun! Cheers.

Truth: People just want to work for GREAT companies and GREAT managers. They want workplace "cultures that work." Can you say... PROFIT?

2. MAKE SOMEONE HAPPY AT WORK OPPORTUNITY

Buy some pretty flowers (yes, real ones!) and leave one flower on each person’s desk who sits around you. Maybe leave one on your desk too so they don’t suspect you as the flower-passer-outer. It’s delightful just to bring a smile to someone’s face and watch from a distance.

3. MOVIE RECOMMENDATIONS

Since humor, laughter and FUN are our game, we LOVE movies as a source for those feelings. So, whenever we see a movie that we think is really fun or silly or otherwise worthy of recommendation, we'll cover it here. Movies, by the way, are great "therapy" — a great way to get away from stress and the busy world.

  • Hitch – An adorable movie with Will Smith, who is as cute as he can be. Comedy at its best—a little slapstick, a little irreverence and a lot of laughter. See it.
