1. HUMOR U TIP #171 – Elections and Work |
By Ann Fry Yes, it's voting time in the nation. It's such a split nation that even work is effected by the strong attitudes we all have. What to do? I say … really get into it. Stop talking at the watercooler to those who don't believe as you do. And furthermore, stop sending them emails, calling them, sharing leads. I mean, let's really divide the nation … and the workplace. You could even sprinkle fairy dust on their cars … like to change their minds. (Do it anonymously of course.) This isn't really tongue and cheek. Think of it … if we stop our contact with those who differ from us, then we'll live and work in a safe little cocoon of likeness. Our world will be calm and peaceful, we'll never have arguments. Wow! Or, we could push the envelope and learn to laugh together at our differences. What a concept. Laugh and play together, embrace what is not alike. Humor .. the healing agent. I invite you TODAY … to buy little funny gifts for your workmates who will be voting for the opposite candidate from you. And, then on Wed., when the results are in … buy them a congratulatory note if their candidate wins and a "sorry" gift if your candidate wins. Make it a joyful time and then bury the differences. Then … back to work, but with a renewed commitment to laugh and play together … despite what you don't agree on. There will be lots more opportunities to disagree … do it with lightness. Truth: People just want to work for GREAT companies and GREAT managers. If you make them laugh and keep them happy, they'll "blow the lid" off their productivity and produce breakthrough results! 2. HAPPY WORK THOUGHTS |
Thanksgiving is coming …start a "secret pal" deal for Thanksgiving. Every other day, drop a little something on his/her desk that's fun and shows gratefulness (like notes about what a great person they are, good job they're doing). Then, just before Nov. 25, identify yourself to that person. |
3. MOVIE RECOMMENDATIONS |
Since humor, laughter and FUN are our game, we LOVE movies as a source for those feelings. So, whenever we see a movie that we think is really fun or silly or otherwise worthy of recommendation, we'll cover it here. Movies, by the way, are great "therapy" – a great way to get away from stress and the busy world.
