1. HUMOR U TIP #166 – Learning and Playing — Same Thing? |
By Terrill Fischer and Ann Fry Learning and playing are related to each other. To confirm this hypothesis, watch children at play. Actually, watch children and animals. They KNOW how to play AND they learn from their playing. Do you play? Do you learn from what you play? If not, you might not really be observing the outcomes of your play. Here's a challenge / opportunity for you: Learn to play a new game each week. When you meet people from other cultures, ask them to teach you their favorite game. Play with people who are different from you. Learn to play your favorite games at the next level of skill and enjoyment. Reflect on your play experience and figure out what you can learn from it. What does the game teach you about strategy, about other people, and about yourself? One of our favorite quotes is: "We don't stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing" Note: Don't ever stop playing … you might very well die of boredom!! Truth: People just want to work for GREAT companies and GREAT managers. If you make them laugh and keep them happy, they'll "blow the lid" off their productivity and produce breakthrough results! Can you say... KA-CHING? For Past Tips, visit: |
2. HAPPY WORK THOUGHTS |
If Laughing Really Matters at work, what are you doing to contribute to the ripples of laughter flying down the halls and seeping out of the offices? |
3. MOVIE RECOMMENDATIONS |
Since humor, laughter and FUN are our game, we LOVE movies as a source for those feelings. So, whenever we see a movie that we think is really fun or silly or otherwise worthy of recommendation, we'll cover it here. Movies, by the way, are great "therapy" — a great way to get away from stress and the busy world. Not too many comedies currently, but one caught my eye: Welcome to Mooseport: Not a huge box office success, but great fun seeing Gene Hackman doing comedy. And, the idea of a former President of the United States running for Mayor of a small town and "getting the girl" — FUN. I laughed out loud. |
